FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 

WHAT IS AMSTERDAM LIGHT FESTIVAL FOODWALK?

The Amsterdam Light Festival Foodwalk is a collaboration between Le Foodwalk and Amsterdam Light Festival. It takes place on Friday evenings (and some Saturday evenings) from November 29, 2024, to January 17, 2025. This unique culinary take-away walk combines delicious bites with an evening walk along the light artworks of Amsterdam Light Festival. It’s a fun activity to do with friends, lovers, families, colleagues, or on a date. The total route is around 6,5 kilometers long.

Tickets are limited and likely to sell out quickly.

 

WHAT ARE THE DATES AND TIMES OF THE AMSTERDAM LIGHT FESTIVAL FOODWALK?

DATES: Friday November 29, November 30, December 6, December 7, December 13, December 14, December 20, December 27, January 3, January 10, January 11 & January 17. 

STARTING LOCATIONS: Choose to start at Double Tree Hilton near Amsterdam Central Sation or Stopera near Metro Waterlooplein. 

START TIME: between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. 

END TIME: before 9.30 p.m.

TICKET SALES: Tickets for the Amsterdam Light Festival Foodwalk are available until 10 p.m. on the Wednesday prior to the upcoming walk or until sold out.

Please start on time. At participating restaurants, food is no longer available after 10 p.m. To avoid (long) waiting time at the stops, we advise starting before 6 p.m.

 

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE AMSTERDAM LIGHT FESTIVAL FOODWALK?

Each Amsterdam Light Festival Foodwalk ticket includes:

• 5 bites at five different food stops.
• 1 cocktail at The Hoxton (0.0% options available).
• Access to the Amsterdam Light Festival app (worth € 7,99).
• The Le Foodwalk Guide. A signature PDF that contains:
• Information about the Amsterdam Light Festival Foodwalk restaurants. 
• A Google Map with the participating restaurants and detailed addresses for easy navigation.
• Nice-to-know facts about Amsterdam ánd new food hotspots in the area.
• Fun questions to discuss with your fellow walkers. During Le Foodwalk you will get to know each other even better.
• A € 1,- donation to support the Amsterdam Light Festival.

After your purchase, you will receive one ticket per person with a unique QR code. This QR code will be scanned at the starting location mentioned in the Le Foodwalk Guide. Each ticket holder will also receive a unique code to download the Amsterdam Light Festival app from the Google Play or Apple Store. The app works during the entire festival period, from November 28, 2024 to January 19, 2025. This means you can always go back for another walk whenever you want. The lights are on daily from 5 p.m until 10/11 p.m., except on December 31. 

Please note that the Amsterdam Light Festival Foodwalk is a take-away walk. This means that there is no table reserved at the restaurants for sit-down dining. After showing your stamp card you get your bite to-go, and you can enjoy it while you walk to the next artwork.

 

WHAT KIND OF TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE?

You can choose between a regular ticket or a vegetarian ticket. Please select the correct tickets in our webshop. A regular ticket means you eat everything: meat, seafood, veggies. The vegetarian ticket is veggies only (but not vegan).

 

WHAT KIND OF BITES ARE SERVED DURING LE FOODWALK?

All the bites are 'tasting size'. That means that they're not the size of a starter, but usually more the size of a slightly larger amuse-bouche. In the past, we had everything from sliders to bao buns and from soup and pizzettes to ceviche and gyoza’s. What the restaurants will serve depends on their chef's signature dish and which ingredients are in season.  

 

CAN I SIT DOWN TO EAT MY BITE?

It's a takeaway walk to enjoy bites while walking along the route. That means that there is no table reserved for you at the restaurants. Occasionally, some restaurants make an exception based on availability. But please keep in mind that you still need to be at the last location before 9.30 p.m., and it’s advised to keep walking so you don’t have to rush.

 

CAN I BUY EXTRA DRINKS DURING THE WALK?

At one location, a drink is included in your ticket. At all other locations, extra drinks (to go) will be available for purchase. Sometimes you can sit down when you buy an extra drink, but please respect that this is not the case at all locations. At some restaurants, the tables are reserved for 'regular' customers. That's why we keep mentioning that the Amsterdam Light Festival Foodwalk is a take-away walk. 

 

I’M VEGETARIAN, CAN I JOIN?

YES, we have the option for a vegetarian version of the Amsterdam Light Festival Foodwalk. Please select the VEGETARIAN ticket.

 

I’M VEGAN, CAN I JOIN?

At this point we don't offer vegan options. 

 

I’M PREGNANT, CAN I JOIN?

We advise ordering the vegetarian ticket. In the past, we have never had any issues and the bites were suitable for pregnant Foodwalkers, but make sure to double-check the ingredients at the locations. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee all 5 bites are 100% pregnancy proof. However, there will be a 0.0% drink included in the ticket.

 

I HAVE FOOD ALLERGIES, CAN I JOIN?

We are sorry to say that we can't accommodate allergies at this time. If your allergies are severe, we still want to offer you the opportunity to join your friends during the walk. When your friends buy a ticket you can just walk along. This means that you will not get a stamp card and you can't get the bites made especially for Le Foodwalk. However; you can bring your own snacks, try to order something from the menu or just order a drink to go at the different stops.

 

CAN KIDS AND FURRY FRIENDS (AKA DOGS) JOIN?

FOR KIDS: Because of the length of the Amsterdam Light Festival Foodwalk and the evening hours, it’s not suitable for kids under 10. Kids 10 years and older who join and want to taste all the bites need their own ticket. If you have a newborn, and you want to walk the Amsterdam Light Festival Foodwalk with the baby in the pram or stroller… we think this is a perfect date-night for new parents.

FOR DOGS: Make sure to bring your own snacks and water for your furry friends. And please respect if dogs are not allowed inside the restaurants. However: this should not be a problem since it's a take-away walk, and you will enjoy the bite (and drink) along the way and not inside.

 

HOW TO ORDER TICKETS FOR THE AMSTERDAM LIGHT FESTIVAL FOODWALK:

• Choose the date of your walk (only available on Fridays!)
• Check with your friends how many regular and vegetarian tickets you need.
• Select the tickets and add them to your cart.
• You can pay with iDEAL, Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, and Google- and Apple Pay.
• When the payment is successful, you will receive an order confirmation and your ticket with the QR code.
• A few days before the walk, you will receive a separate email with your Le Foodwalk Guide (the PDF), which includes the walking route and essential information. You can download the Dutch or English version via the same link.

 

I ORDERED A REGULAR TICKET INSTEAD OF VEGETARIAN, HOW CAN I FIX THIS?

Oh well, oh well, oh well. Just kidding. Please email us so we can fix this for you ;-). But please note that we cannot change tickets within 24 hours of the walking date as the restaurants have already been briefed.

 

CAN I CHANGE THE ORDER OF THE FOOD STOPS?

The starting location is fixed and can't be changed. Here, you will get your stamp card to obtain bites and a drink at the different food stops. As the Foodwalk has a fixed route, we advise you to go with the flow.

 

I CAN’T FIND MY TICKET...

If your payment was successful, you should have received a confirmation email and an email with your ticket with the QR code. This is an automated process. Please check your spam folder if it's not in your inbox. If you still can’t find it, contact us at lefoodwalk@gmail.com.

 

CAN I CHANGE MY TICKET?

Please note that tickets are non-refundable and that switching between dates or routes is not possible. Rain or shine, the Amsterdam Light Festival Foodwalk will proceed as usual. 

 

I CAN’T MAKE IT AND I NEED TO CANCEL:

Of course, we are sad to hear that you can't make it. All sales are final and tickets are non-refundable. We pre-order (and pay) all the bites for the Foodwalk and the restaurants already did their groceries and food preppings for you. If you need to change your plans, you can sell your tickets to a friend (via social media, app groups, etc).

 

THE AMSTERDAM LIGHT FESTIVAL FOODWALK IS SOLD OUT, HOW CAN I GET A TICKET?

Once a Friday is sold out, tickets are no longer available. Make sure to book tickets on time! Follow Le Foodwalk on our social media channels, like Instagram and TikTok, where we will announce the start of the ticket sale. Subscribe to our email list at the bottom of this page, as we will email our newsletter subscribers when the tickets are available.

 

ALL THE INFORMATION IS IN ENGLISH BUT I'M DUTCH?

On social media and in our webshop we communicate in (non-native ;-0) English, because we want to be inclusive. MAAR: maak je geen zorgen. We maken de route volledig in het Nederlands en bij je bestelling krijg je zowel de Nederlandse Le Foodwalk PDF als de Engelse versie. Veel plezier!
